Have You Heard the Strangest Secret in the World?
We all want to be successful. That's why everyone is always chasing the latest and greatest new system that promises success. However, what people often forget is instead of taking a gamble on something that's brand new, it's often a better approach to go with something that's tried and true. So when it comes to being successful, you can look back over half a century for a strategy that has definitely stood the test of time.

If this strategy is so great, why haven't you heard about it until today? Well, since it generates billions of dollars each year, the personal development industry is very competitive. And because the man who recorded this audio track passed away over twenty years ago, it hasn't been actively marketed. The result is even though it's still floating around on the Internet, many people simply miss out on being exposed to it. So for those who do happen to stumble upon this approach to success through posts like this one, it gives them an opportunity to have a major advantage in life.

What Does It Actually Take to Succeed?
In 1956, Earl Nightingale, who was known as the "Dean of Personal Development," published a spoken word book called The Greatest Secret. In this book, he started by laying out a simple truth that's still quite accurate today. He said that if you take a sample of 100 men who are all 25, by the time they are 65, only 1 will be rich, 4 will have financial independence, 41 will still be in the workforce and 54 will be completely broke.

Because those numbers are still pretty close to modern reality, it's clear that even though most people think they know what it takes to be successful, what they're doing isn't working. So, what exactly is holding so many people back? The core of the issue is even though most of us are familiar with the concept of goals, there are a lot of misconceptions about how goals actually work.

As Nightingale explained, success can actually be defined as someone working towards a predetermined goal and knowing the path they're taking. On the other hand, if someone isn't doing that, the sad truth is they're a failure. And even though that may sound harsh, the reason it has to be said is because the world needs to realize that simply conforming isn't going to cut it.

Mindset Really is Everything
Since it doesn't take long to look around and realize that most people aren't doing as well as they would like, you may be wondering what the actual strange secret is. What Nightingale found is when you keep everything else consistent, what sets people apart is what they think about. So once someone identifies the goal they want to work towards, they can't just stop there. Instead, they need to always be thinking about their goal. Although it's fine not to be intensely focused on this thought every hour of the day, it is something you always want to have in the back of your mind.

Because thoughts are so powerful, shouldn't that make success a breeze? Well, the reason it's a real strategy and not some scheme is because the power of thought is a double-edged sword. Even though working towards a goal is rewarding, there are going to be times when things get challenging. And when that happens, it can be tempting to let your thoughts go to a dark place. Unfortunately, when that happens to people, the power of thought begins working against them.

How to Take Action
Would you be willing to spend thirty days seeing if this approach can make you more successful? If you said yes, the first step is to pick a goal. Now, while you can be working towards a lofty goal, you want the initial goal you set to be something concrete and achievable. Once you know what you want to accomplish, write it down on a card.

From there, all that's left to do is start working towards your goal and thinking positively about it. And if your thoughts ever start to stray from what you want, you'll be able to pull out the card and remind yourself exactly what you're trying to accomplish!
